Nadiem Makarim was detained seven months ago and a verdict is expected in May amid allegations that he caused over US$125 million in state losses.

The request was presented in a letter read by Nadiem’s lawyer during a hearing at Jakarta’s Corruption Court on January 12.

Nadiem denied making gains from the position, noting that his wealth actually declined after assuming his ministerial role.

Authorities said the equipment was procured without proper needs analysis or price evaluation, and failed to serve remote and underdeveloped regions.

The corruption case involves allegations of overpriced Chromebook purchases and unnecessary software.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said some suspects overlap with the Chromebook case, as Nadiem was a key decision-maker in both projects.

Prosecutors charged the defendants under Indonesia’s anti-corruption law and related statutes.

The court found that the Attorney General’s Office followed proper legal procedures and had sufficient evidence to designate Nadiem as a suspect.
