A Whole Lot of Flirtin’ Going On: Momo Reaches 50 Million Users

The China-made find-and-flirt app Momo has reached 50 million users. As revealed on Momo’s official Weibo page, the huge milestone comes less than two years after launching.
Here are some of its highlights in that time:
-
March 2012: Momo hits two million users shortly after our first review of the dating app.
-
August 2012: 10 million users.
-
August 2012: Momo gets $40 million in funding, with much of that thought to have come from Alibaba, China’s top e-commerce company.
-
October 2012: Momo launches in English for global users.
-
December 2012: 20 million users.
-
January 2013: Momo adds local check-ins in the style of Foursquare.
-
June 2013: Momo adds sticker-style emoticons, VIP memberships and other monetization-oriented features. The app had already surpassed 40 million users at that time
