Shein is trialing a service in Brazil that allows sellers to put up their merchandise for sale on the Chinese fast-fashion giant’s platform, similar to how Taobao operates, Pandaily reported, citing Chinese publication LatePost.
According to a person close to Shein, the company decided to go through with the trial last year, with the service launched in Brazil in March this year.
A separate source cited said that Shein allows brands to supply their products, with the Chinese platform taking care of logistics and operations. A logistics service provider in Brazil added that the fast-fashion firm was handling about 50,000 orders in the country daily.
The move mirrors that of TikTok, which has been scaling its ecommerce service to other parts of the world. Recently, TikTok Shop partnered with Ninja Van for logistics services in Southeast Asia.
Shein, meanwhile, is also looking to scale globally. It recently announced plans to open a physical shop in Japan.
