With the deal, the tech-enabled logistics firm will be picking up products from sellers, sorting them in hubs, then delivering them straight to customers.
TikTok Shop is integrated into the short-form video platform and is available in six Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore. Sales on the platform are slowly overtaking those of ecommerce giants such as Shopee, Tech in Asia recently reported.
Though it has found success in the region, TikTok Shop has delayed plans to set up shop in the US and the UK.
With over a billion monthly active users on its platform, TikTok is poised to reach US$12 billion in revenue this year, growing over 2x from last year’s figure of US$4.6 billion.
TikTok parent company ByteDance has also decided to buy back US$3 billion in shares from its investors, which will bring the firm’s valuation to US$300 billion. It is currently China’s most valuable private company.
