Singaporean Startup Daylight Studios Gets $660,000 in Funding to Boost Upcoming iPhone Game

Singapore’s Red Dot Ventures is getting its game on for the fund’s third investment of the year. The recipient this time is Daylight Studios, the mobile gaming studio that you might recall from our profile of the two founders and the way they rejected an acquisition from Electronic Arts.

Daylight Studios’ funding round is worth S$839,000 ($660,000), led by Red Dot Ventures as one of the official incubators within the National Research Foundation Singapore.

The startup studio makes good-looking RPGs for feature phones. Its biggest title to date is Reign of Heroes. But Daylight Studios’s next game will be for iOS, called Conquest Age. The game promises to be a “massive social RPG that will be a delight for the old fans of PC online MMOPRGs and Japanese RPGs who want a similar experience on their smartphones.”

Red Dot Ventures’ Leslie Loh says in today’s announcement that they’re backing Singaporean Daylight Studios to become a market leader in mobile gaming.

Don Sim, the CEO of Daylight Studios, points out:

With the investment, Daylight Studios plans to hire more talent, and to further develop our mobile social games. We can now expand our team’s skill-set and boost our game production quality. Exciting new titles await our rapidly growing base of fans.

The other two major investments by Red Dot Ventures so far this year were into car-sharing service iCarsClub, and the hugely popular 3D printer maker Pirate 3D, which has since gone on to raise over $1 million on Kickstarter.
