Want to Know More About the Online Travel Market? Check WITNext Summercamp

According to statistics released by PhoCusWright, the total travel tourism market’s expected worth in the Asia Pacific region is $294 billion in 2012. The online travel market will make up a quarter of that, to the tune of a whopping $70.6 billion. It is no wonder that more businesses are venturing into online travel, or releasing travel related services.

For those of you interested to learn more about this space, here’s an event for you. WITNext Summercamp, organised by Web In Travel, will be happening this June 21 and 22 in Singapore. It aims to educate entrepreneurs, business owners, and interested parties who wish to find out more about online travel.

Yeoh Siew Hoon, editor and founder of Web In Travel, explained:

[E]veryone loves to travel and therefore everyone thinks they can start up a travel business, but it’s a complex and fragmented industry with lots of players and a complicated distribution structure.

That’s why we thought an event that would teach entrepreneurs about the travel business would be useful. At the same time, travel businesses need to learn about the digital world, and we want WIT to be the exchange platform for knowledge and relationships.

So who will be speaking at this event? There will be international speakers, such as Stephan Ekberg, CEO of TravelStart, and Kei Shibata of Venture Republic Japan. There will also be local entrepreneurs such as Ross Veitch, CEO and co-founder of Wego, (which recently acquired Valadoo in Indonesia); Startup Arena Singapore 2012 finalist Tudor Coman, co-founder of Flocations; and Steven Gong, CEO of ImpulseFlyer.

There will also be an entrepreneur’s bootcamp which will be run by Filip Filipov of VaultPAD, a new accelerator fund that focuses on travel which is looking to set up an Asia base. Entrepreneurs and developers can also look forward to taking part in building an iPhone travel app in sessions and competitions run by travel-domain experts.

Amazingly attendance is free for this event. So budding entrepreneurs looking to venture into travel, you can find out more here. And you can sign up by contacting the WIT team.

See you guys there!
