East Ventures, Lightspeed co-lead edtech firm’s $16.6m raise
Singapore-based edtech startup Geniebook has raised US$$16.6 million in a series A round co-led by East Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Founded in 2017 by educators Neo Zhizhong and Alicia Cheong, Geniebook’s offerings cover English, Mathematics, and Science. It also helps personalize students’ education with blended learning features.
The online learning platform says that it has seen a 2000% revenue growth since 2019, having onboarded over 150,000 students across Southeast Asia. Geniebook’s headcount also grew fivefold in the same timeframe, employing 350 people mostly for its curriculum and engineering teams across its regional offices.
The latest round will fund the firm’s team recruitment and product development.

The startup entered the Vietnamese market earlier this year, and also has a presence in Malaysia and Indonesia.
