Online food delivery firm Foodpanda announced it’s expanding its on-demand delivery services in Singapore to include groceries, flowers, and household essentials.

The company has tapped over 1,000 retailers across the city-state to offer convenience products, beauty essentials, and baby care items on its platform for delivery, according to a statement. Some of its partners include Caltex Starmart, Hao Mart, TigerNow, Mothercare, and Toki.
Foodpanda is offering free delivery on all shop orders throughout November and a S$10 discount for first-time orders.
The company said it aims to continue expanding the range of its lifestyle and convenience offerings in the future.
According to a statement, it has hired about 100 engineers in Singapore within the last three months to optimize its back-end technology as it continues to bolster its product and engineering teams for the new service. It’s looking to hire up to 300 engineers by the end of the year.
Since being founded in 2012, Foodpanda’s on-demand food delivery service has grown to more than 30,000 partner restaurants in more than 120 cities globally, the company claims. It currently has operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Romania, and Bulgaria.
With its latest move in Singapore, Foodpanda goes up against Redmart, which was acquired by Lazada back in 2016. In March 2019, its services were fully integrated within Lazada’s platform, with the separate Redmart app and site ceasing operations.
Another player in the space is GrabFresh, Grab’s on-demand grocery-delivery service within its main app. It was launched earlier this year through a partnership with Indonesian grocery-delivery startup HappyFresh.
