The first ever ‘Thailand Online Mega Sale 2013’ starts in three days. The online country-wide sale will take place from November 26 until December 3. During the eight-day event, products and services on sale from numerous e-stores will be aggregated on the Online Mega Sale 2013 site will be 20 to 80 percent off. Over 500 websites and e-commerce brands are participating in this event, which the Commerce Ministry and Thai E-commerce Association made happen.

Having seen the success of Cyber Monday in the US, the event organizers want to replicate the same thing in Thailand, except this event lasts the whole week. Pawoot “Pom” Pongvitayapanu, MD and founder of Rakuten’s Tarad.com and president of the Thai E-Commerce Association, explained more about promotion:

To create more awareness of the e-commerce industry and stimulate Thais to make an online purchase, the government and private sectors have joined efforts to create this event. We hope to see a high conversion rate and create first time buyers, as the participant merchants will offer up to an 80 percent discount.

In addition to the product discounts, Thailand Post will offer a 10 to 15 percent discount on shipping, while banking and payment platform Paysbuy offers reduced fees for transactions during the event to help online merchants reduce costs.

On the site, buyers can expect to see familiar brands such as Rakuten’s Tarad, ReadyPlanet, Weloveshopping, and many more.

Besides America’s Cyber Monday, China’s had its own ‘Cyber Monday’ earlier this month which ended with $5.7 billion spent on the nation’s top e-commerce site alone.
