Sina Cup 3 day 6: VG to meet DK in the grand finals

The lower bracket has finally concluded with Vici Gaming (VG) successfully defeating Dream Time (DT) 2-0. This means it will be VG who moves on to face Team DK in the grand finals of the Sina Cup Supernova Dota 2 Open Season 3.

Game 1: the cost of indecisiveness

For the first game, DT went for a trilane at top lane with Bristleback, Naga Siren and Visage against Luna, Witch Doctor, and a jungling Enchantress. This left Anti-Mage to head to the bottom lane against Nature’s Prophet, as Doom and Razor went against each other at mid.

Although DT got the first blood against the Luna at top lane, the team looked very undecided early game. On the other hand, VG had a solid game plan with excellent lane rotation and good pick offs. Their Anti-Mage at bottom lane wasn’t farming as well as he should have been, but he did a good job of keeping himself from dying and was cleverly moving across the map, avoiding ganks even with the Nature’s Prophet hunting for him. Although Anti-Mage managed to get his farm up and push the lanes, it utimately wasn’t enough to stop the farmed and aggressive VG.

The match ended at 30:59 with a score of 5-20 in favor of VG.

Game 2: late game Anti-Mage

Both teams decided on a safe lane trilane. VG sent Invoker, Rubick, and Anti-Mage to the mid lane against the enemy Dark Seer while DT sent Alchemist, Disruptor and Morphling against the enemy Batrider. And finally, Queen of Pain and Invoker headed to the mid lane.

DT once again drew first blood against VG and had a greater early game advantage than VG. They managed to kill the offlane Batrider multiple times and got the first tower of the game at 11 minutes while Dark Seer held his lane. The Queen of Pain, however, wasn’t as impressive against the Invoker who outfarmed her. DT roamed the map and got good pick offs to hinder the enemy team from farming.

Things started to turn sour for DT when Batrider got his Blink Dagger and Force Staff, which allowed him to initiate and pick off heroes. Although DT was initially ahead in farm, getting hero kills and winning team fights allowed VG to catch up. While all of this was happening, VG’s Anti-Mage was also pushing lanes and getting farm and items. What used to be a 2,000 net worth difference between the Morphling and the Anti-Mage disappeared.

The match then turned into a battle of skill and experience, which DT lost, as they executed bad initiation and lack of proper coordination during the later clashes. DT lost hero after hero in team fights until VG broke inside their base and destroyed DT’s Ancient.

The match ended at 42:20 with as score of 26-15 in favor of DT.
