Monday’s a good day for new beginnings, right? Celebrate here with a smattering of angel and seed funding all over India. A couple of ecommerce startups make the cut, one showing that produce may be trendier than you think. For the super trendy, a Mumbai website’s just gotten money to help you be social. Check out these three startups that have received funding today.
Living Local
Mumbai-based Living Local, a hyperlocal social discovery portal, has raised US$200,000 in seed funding from former Mexx Europe Holding CEO Rattan Chadha.
Founded by Neeraj Vasudev and Anubhav Anand in 2014, Living Local was founded first as a coffee table magazine. The website was founded in January of this year, and the mobile app is expected to start operations at the end of this month. It helps people in four suburbs between Andheri West and Bandra West in Mumbai find nightlife, street food, restaurants, and other leisure activities.
The funds will be used for expansion and marketing. The startup is looking to expand into other large cities like Delhi, Bangalore, and Pune.
Last month, social discovery portal Shouut raised a round of seed funding. Its services include an emphasis on travel.
Rattan is the owner of Amex Investment, which is mentioned in the Panama Papers for its dealings with Oberoi Group.
VegFru
Online fruit and vegetable marketplace VegFru has bagged an undisclosed amount of funding from Delhi-based SaaS analytics startup Wingify Software.
Founded by Wingify Software director Anil Chopra, VegFru connects farmers and suppliers with retailers, restaurants, hotel chains, importers, exporters, and other institutions that do not include mainstream wholesalers.
The startup claims to have 5,000 vendors using the site. It plans to expand into 15 clusters in India and develop a mobile app for vendors. The site is in English but future plans include having the site available in Hindi and other regional languages.
Wingify Software was founded in 2009 by Paras Chopra. It is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) that, through its flagship product VWO, lets customers develop different websites to see which one gains the most traction with customers.
PriceRaja

Deals and price comparison site PriceRaja has secured US$300,000 in angel funding from Prashant Puri, founder and CEO of AdLift. Prashant will join the company as an advisor.
