YaphetS returns to competitive DOTA, joins TongFu’s third team

Yes, the legendary Shadow Fiend player from Warcraft 3 (WC3) DotA days has indeed returned after two years of retirement. Chinese pro gamer Bu “YaphetS” Yanjun will now be playing competitive DOTA 2 for TongFu’s third team.

“YaphetS” (also known as “PIS”) made his name as a skilled pub gamer whose replays often got posted in sGamer. However, he was also disliked for his attitude in forums and his lack of professionalism. His return makes people wonder about any improvement in his attitude or if he can find his form from WC3 DotA to Dota 2 after two years of inactivity.

If you don’t follow the scene, but still find the name “YaphetS” familiar, that’s probably because it is Shadow Fiend’s fun name in WC3 DotA. Fun names are alternative names that are used randomly in WC3 DotA. In this case, Nevermore the Shadow Fiend became YaphetS the Shadow Fiend, in honour of YaphetS being the best Shadow Fiend player in the world. The YaphetS fun name was added to the Shadow Fiend hero after YaphetS defeated Ng Wei “YamateH” Pong (also known as N.W.P. and now captain of Team Orange) in a 1-vs-1 Shadow Fiend show match in the World DotA Championships 2010. YaphetS will be joined by other familiar players in the scene, namely former Team DK player Huang “LongDD” Xiang, former RattleSnake player Zhao “Kabu” Kai, TongFu’s first team’s team coach Junjie “Sydm” Tong and a fifth player known as “ZexBingo”. Their team will be competing in the Nexon Invitational Super Match next week.
