Tiket Empowers Non-Techies to Become Travel Agents

Indonesian ticket booking platform Tiket recently opened its offline agent reseller program to expand its market reach even further with the help of people who want to become travel agents but may not have a lot of related IT skills. We spoke with Beatrix Immanuel, the business development manager of Tiket about this latest program.

The offline agent reseller program offers anyone a chance to sell tickets and earn commission from them. The agents can sell any of Tiket’s products, including tickets for airlines, hotels, trains, events, and movies. Basically, the agents can use the Tiket website to check ticket availability for each product, and can make bookings in real time for their customers, and then issue tickets.

There are two types of offline agent memberships: Silver, for IDR 1.5 million ($155), and Gold, for IDR 3 million ($312). Silver lets you earn up to 2.75 percent of flight commissions whereas with gold you can earn up to 3.25 percent. The commissions earned from the other products are also different, but it hasn’t been disclosed yet.

Beatrix explained that while some people like to book their own tickets on the Tiket site, there are others who need offline services like comparing flight prices. That is one of the reasons why offline travel agents will always have a place in the business. Furthermore, she believes that Tiket’s agent program can also help the current offline travel agents check ticket availability in real time, rather than having to go through the hassle of calling the bigger travel agent to check.

Since its launch on December 20th, around 150 offline agents have signed up on Tiket. That alone was achieved without any tangible marketing effort from Tiket as there were already a lot of inquiries made by people even before the agent program was published. As you might know, Tiket also has an affiliate marketing program for online agents, and Beatrix said that they now have more than 300 offline and online agents in total.

This latest agent program from Tiket helps people who do not have much IT skills to become a travel agent.
