We’ve been keeping an eye on Japanese photo-app startup SnapDish (www.snapdi.sh) for some time now. The food photography service has been popular on iOS, but up until now, Android users haven’t been able to join in on the fun [1]. But today the app is finally available for download from the Google Play store for Android users around the world.
Up until now the SnapDish app has been downloaded by 210,000 people with over pictures of 4,000 food dishes uploaded each day, so it’s good to see it become available to even more users today.
The service is billed as a sort of SNS for those who love to cook. And indeed many of the photos look pretty amazing. As we noted when we spoke to the startup before, this food photo app is unique in that it has special filters that make food look better. For example, if you undercook your food there is a ‘well-done’ option.
Our readers in China may recall a couple of months back that SnapDish made a partnership with RenRen to allow users to share their photos from iOS to the Chinese social network. And those of you in in Singapore will be pleased to hear that SnapDish is exhibiting at e27 Echelon in June, so if you’re in the neighborhood, do check them out.
