Launched in October 2019, ScaleUp Malaysia focuses on local growth-stage companies. It provides training programs for participants, covering finance, human resources, marketing and sales, technology, product, and strategy.
Companies need to have proven revenue models in order to join the program, according to a statement.
Andre Sequerah, managing partner of ScaleUp Malaysia, highlighted the diversity of the first batch, which includes several non-digital-native companies. “We are also really excited to work with companies who come from very varied backgrounds – from consumer technologies to software to retail and wellness,” he said.
At the end of the program in Q1 2020, the accelerator said it will select 10 startups to receive an investment of almost US$50,000. It will then work with those startups to fine-tune their pitch and meet strategic investors and partners.
