Meet 7 of India’s finest young startups, pitching to win at Tech in Asia Bangalore 2016

Seven startups picked out of 200 who pitched to us online. Five redoubtable judges to weigh the finalists’ pitches live on stage. Welcome to the Arena Startup Pitch Battle at the Tech in Asia Bangalore 2016 conference on July 6-7.

The winner will take home a cash prize of US$10,000. But the real prize is the prestige of pitching to an international panel of judges: Shekhar Kirani, Partner, Accel; Sharad Sharma, co-founder, iSPIRT; Prasanna Krishnamoorthy, CTO in Residence at Microsoft Accelerator India; Dave Ng, Principal, B Capital Group; and Siddharth Nautiyal, Partner, Omidyar Network.

One of the most important things startups have to learn to do is to pitch their ideas and plans effectively, whether it is to investors or users. Come and watch how the magnificent seven we have chosen make their pitches – and how our experienced judges respond to them.

To prepare you for the battle, here’s a brief introduction to the seven startups in lineup for the Arena at Tech in Asia’s first conference in India:

Exploride

Did you know 1.3 million people die and 20 to 50 million get injured or maimed in road crashes every year? And the main cause of this? Distractions. Talkative co-passengers, sleep, smartphones … anything could take the driver’s attention off the road and that’s a disaster in the making. This hardware startup wants to change that.

Exploride is a transparent, glass heads-up display (HUD) that sits on the dashboard of your car, letting you see maps, take calls, play music, change the volume, and read texts without looking away from the road into a smartphone or the dashboard. You control it all with gestures and voice.

Tech in Asia was the first to write about Exploride before it launched on Indiegogo, where the product went on to become the biggest crowdfunding success story for a startup from India, raising over US$500,000 in 40 days.

FRS Labs

Fraud Risk and Security Research Labs – the name says it all. This Bangalore-based bootstrapped startup helps mobile banking and other fintech apps get a biometric authentication feature, which could establish the identity of the user with a one-click selfie.

FRS Labs has a few patent pending technologies to its credit and sees banks, other financial companies, and telcos as its primary customers.
