Southern Cross Dota presents Tide’s Wrath Season 3, to be sponsored by Tt eSports

One of the most prominent Dota 2 tournaments in Australia returns for its third season, as Southern Cross Dota’s Tide’s Wrath gets sponsored by Tt eSports, one of the most well-known computer hardware and gaming equipment companies in Asia. Southern Cross Dota (SCD) has been the new home for Dota in Australia and New Zealand since its launch in April this year. Since then, SCD has continued to support and promote various tournaments for the regional scene.

Tide’s Wrath was originally created and organized by Down Under Esports League (DUEL). Their merger with SCD last July caused DUEL to reform and become SCD’s tournament team.

For this season of Tide’s Wrath, a total of 64 teams can register online from September 24 to October 4. The 32-team double elimination knock-out bracket will be held on October 14 and will continue to run on Mondays to Thursdays for four weeks until complete. The victor of the winner’s bracket will have a one game advantage on the finals match, which will be held on November 10.

At the moment, the tournament is only open to teams from Australia and New Zealand, but an SCD article suggests the possibility of accepting Southeast Asian teams in the future. This is something that could be beneficial to both scenes seeing as the Oceanic scene is fairly young and still growing. The SEA scene, on the other hand, albeit around for quite some time, needs an extra push especially after losing some prominent teams and players after The International 2013.
