Bukalapak founder’s VC backs Indonesian edtech firm
Indonesian edtech platform Dibimbing has raised funding from Init 6, a VC firm formed by Bukalapak founder Achmad Zaky. The amount of funding was undisclosed.

Founded in 2020, Dibimbing provides digital skills training and career acceleration services for job seekers through a solution called school of career (scareer). Its educational partner institutions include the University of Indonesia, Bogor Agricultural University, Airlangga University, and Brawijaya University.
The startup said it works with 450 hiring partners and companies, including edtech platform Zenius, investing apps Ajaib and Bibit, as well as ecommerce firm Sirclo. Dibimbing added that since 2021, the company has opened hundreds of digital classes focusing on topics such as data science, UI/UX design, digital marketing, web development, and product management.
Dibimbing also helps job seekers review their resumes and cover letters, train for job interviews, and navigate their career paths to help them prepare for the professional world.
The company will use the fresh funds to recruit employees, expand its business, and improve its learning management system.

Dibimbing CEO and co-founder Zaky Muhammad Syah said that the rate of employment of its alumni is currently 80%. The company aims to boost that figure to 100% in the near future.
Other local edtech players providing vocational education services include Binar Academy, RevoU, Purwadhika, Kuncie, and Ruangguru through its Skill Academy.
As of April 2022, total funding for Indonesian edtech startups reached at least US$277 million, according to Tech in Asia‘s database. That includes Ruangguru’s disclosed investments of US$205 million since December 2019.
