Clavel is currently the managing partner at SBGI after joining the firm in 2015. He will start in the new role on June 30 this year. He replaced Michel Combes, who was just named as CEO of SBGI in January 2022.
SBGI is a unit under SoftBank that is responsible for all of the conglomerate’s activities outside of Japan, along with its Vision Funds.
The development comes after SoftBank reported that its two Vision Funds posted a record annual investment loss of 3.5 trillion yen (US$27 billion) as its key investments were battered by rising interest rates and a clampdown on Chinese tech giants.
