Singapore: yet another community-organized Hearthstone tournament

Singapore’s latest Hearthstone tournament, running in what the organizers call “Pokemon” format, is set to happen just a month after the last one took place.

The 3v3 tournament will take place on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at 11:30 A.M., and will be played on-site at Tough Cookie Gaming Cafe, though if you can’t make it to the venue you can watch the matches via its livestream.

Teams will have to pre-register online first and submit their decklist, before re-registering on the day itself at 10:30 A.M. The tournament’s Pokemon format will see each member of a three-man team restricted to just one deck.

A registration fee of S$15 (about $12) applies per team, and players will have to pay an additional venue fee in accordance with the cost of renting computer terminals at Tough Cookie. The top three winning teams will split the pot.

Now that Hearthstone has inched out of open beta, you’ve got to wonder when Blizzard is going to start recognizing the efforts put in by local communities in Asia, and start supporting them. After all, these folk are practically giving them money via free advertising when they play and stream their game.
