From Singapore to Taiwan, Gamevil is trying to lock down East Asia with another new branch

Gamevil, a Korean game developer and publisher, has made another move in its Southeast Asian offensive. After recently setting up a base in Singapore, the company will have an additional branch in Taiwan, Korea’s Inven reports.

While the Singapore office is set to cover Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, the Taiwan office will focus on Macau and Hong Kong, in addition to Taiwan. The Taiwanese office will focus on gaging the local market and learning the specific needs of its users, according to the announcement. Localization and marketing efforts are planned to be the primary activities.

In Taiwan, Gamevil’s Fishing Super Stars and Monster World have enjoyed long term success, and the company hopes this will be emulated by more recent titles like MLB Perfect Timing. Clearly Gamevil has read the memo, as projections continue to cite Southeast Asia as the fastest growing games market, particular in mobile games. Data research company Newzoo predicted in May that Southeast Asia would account for 82 percent of the US$6 billion in industry growth for 2014, then promptly opened shop in Asia itself with a Shanghai office.
