Former EDBI chief executive Chu Swee Yeok, along with former and current executives at the Singapore state-owned strategic fund, has launched August Global Partners (AGP), a multistage global investment firm.

With US$250 million in initial assets under management, AGP will start with two commercial funds: a continuation fund and a new healthcare fund.

Yeok, who is now an advisor at EDBI, will be chairperson of AGP. She announced on LinkedIn that the new firm will be looking at “healthcare opportunities that will shape and transform the sector.”

On its website, AGP said it is an independent fund management company that is “spun out” of EDBI, though it’s unclear what the relationship entails. Tech in Asia has reached out to Yeok for details.

Yeok stepped down from her role as EDBI CEO on February 1. She spent most of her early career at Singapore’s Economic Development Board before moving to EDBI – its investment arm – as CEO from 2009.
