Investible, a VC firm based in Sydney and Singapore, has teamed up with Mandiri Capital Indonesia, an investment firm under Mandiri Group, to launch a new fund focusing on the climate tech sector.
With the Mandiri-Investible Global Climate Tech Fund, both companies will look for opportunities in Southeast Asia and Oceania. It will prioritize areas such as energy, transport, buildings and cities, industry, food, and agriculture, as well as forests and land use.
The fund size is undisclosed, but the two companies said that 30% of investments will go toward climate projects in Indonesia.
Dennis Pratistha, chief investment officer at Mandiri Capital Indonesia, said he hopes the collaboration will help climate-tech startups enter international markets.
Founded in 2015, Mandiri Capital Indonesia manages several local funds, including the Merah Putih Fund and Indonesia Impact Fund, together with government institutions.
Meanwhile, Investible said that it has identified over 3,200 funding opportunities in the climate tech sector since 2021, but it has made only 19 investments so far. The investees include battery recycling firm Renewable Metals, energy management company CIM, and biotech startup TeOra.
