New job postings show Rocket Internet is set to drive into Nepal

German startup dynamo Rocket Internet likes to get into emerging markets early, as we’ve seen it do in Pakistan and even Myanmar. But Rocket doesn’t have any sites operating in the mountainous nation of Nepal. That, however, looks set to change.

Job postings on Nepali site Merojob show that Rocket Internet is looking to fill two positions based in Kathmandu. One is “content writer – SEO for vehicle” and the other is for a content writer related to “cultural facts, accommodation, tourist spots, cuisine, and real estate scenario in Nepal.” Both job postings are open until tomorrow, January 23.

No site names are mentioned in the job ads, but the car-related one clearly points to Rocket Internet’s Carmudi, a vehicle sales classifieds site that currently operates in Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. That arrived in Myanmar in October last year, a few weeks after Rocket first entered the newly opened up nation with a property classifieds portal.

The second job posting is harder to decode, but if it’s centered on real estate, then it points to the launch of Lamudi in Nepal. If that is indeed the case, then Rocket is tackling Nepal the same way it is Myanmar.
