An offline to online play, an aggregator of ecommerce stores, a video storyteller for women, and an expanding edtech player make the cut for our roundup of rising startups for the day.

Mumbai startup Appie Mobiquity wants to arm offline retailers with tech tools to compete with the savvy ecommerce players. They use cloud computing, analytics, and mobility tech to do that and call themselves “a virtual companion for the offline world.”

Here’s how it works: Merchants can register for an Appie app, which will let them know when a user expresses her intent to buy a certain product on sale. The merchant can then use the app to reach her and quote her a price for the product. If she likes the deal, she can come to the merchant’s store and pick up the product or you can collect the payment and deliver the product yourself.

Today, Appie announced a bridge round of US$1 million in funding from undisclosed angel investors. The money will be used to acquire retailers as its clients.

Hoppingo is an online curator. This portal takes its pick from a whole lot of ecommerce stores and aggregates it for you. From women and men’s fashion to electronics, home furnishing, and baby products, Hoppingo covers the whole gamut. It also has blog posts on lifestyle-related topics – they call it “shopping wisdom.”

The company announced a funding round of US$89,000 from Gurgaon-based online advertising network vCommission. Lately, vCommission has been expanding its services beyond its advertising core business through strategic investments. Earlier this month, it announced funding in two startups, LetReach and Spinsvilla, and brought them under its banner. LetReach is a push notification tool for websites to maximize their reach to consumers and Spinsvilla is an entertainment gambling website for users outside India.

EduRev connects students and teachers on more than 100 courses online. It has a crowdsourced library and aims to help “teachers, authors, publishers shift from an offline model to the online one.”

EduRev was initially funded by Jaarvis accelerator in Delhi.
