Rise of the Incarnates to bring intense 2v2 action to PC gamers on Steam

Everyone find a buddy and hold his hand, because Rise of the Incarnates, the latest Bandai Namco fighting game, is coming to Steam, and it’s an experience you cannot hope to survive alone.

Building upon the highly successful 2v2 gameplay model used by the popular Bandai Namco arcade game, Gundam Extreme Vs: Full Boost (EXVSFB), Rise of the Incarnates is an upcoming free-to-play game that puts players not in the cockpits of huge mechs, but in the shoes of super-powered “Incarnates” who wield the power of deities and demons from well-known mythologies.

These Incarnates do battle in war-torn cities, attacking with melee as well as ranged attacks. I can already see the potential for team-play here, where one teammate will be fighting up close with his teammate supporting him from a distance, providing cover fire.

Bandai Namco feels that there is a lack of 2v2 fighting games outside of Japan, and that 2v2 battles have the potential to be much more intense. The teamwork factor adds a lot more depth and complexity to the game, where you will have to not only worry about yourself, but also your partner; not to mention, victory is more satisfying when won through working in total sync with your teammate.A large percentage of the development team for Rise of the Incarnates were previously working on EXVSFB, and the team hope to replicate the same winning formula and create a game that players will want to play for a long time. The game is mainly being targeted towards Asian gamers for now, although eventual global conquest is probably on their minds as well.

I’m personally a huge fan of EXVSFB, and it’s nice to see Bandai Namco attempting to bring the same formula to the masses. I suspect that the deciding factor for this game, though, will be fast-paced the game will be, and how much effort they put into balancing each Incarnate to be unique but equally useful in battle.

While no announcement date has been announced at present, we’d keep an eye on Rise of the Incarnates if we were you, because if it’s going to be anywhere near as popular as EXVSFB is in Japan right now, it might even be the next Dota 2.
