Report: Alibaba-backed housekeeping services platform files for IPO in the US

“Daojia, a Chinese platform offering on-demand housekeeping services, filed for an initial public offering in New York on July 2,” TechNode reported.

Details:

  • The Alibaba-backed company, which enables users to book workers for domestic services such as cooking, cleaning, and appliance repairs, will list on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker JIA. However, Daojia has not disclosed the size and timeline of its IPO.
  • In its prospectus, the company flagged China’s tightening data security regulations as a potential risk factor.

Dive deeper:

  • The Chinese company is the latest in a beeline of Asian tech players looking to go public this year. Tech in Asia’s analysis shows that 47 startups across China, India, and Southeast Asia are planning their listings.
  • Last week, two Chinese tech startups made their debut on the US stock exchange: Didi Chuxing and  Dingdong Maicai, which have raised US$4.4 billion and US$95.7 million, respectively.
