With one week to go until Monster Hunter Online‘s closed beta kicks off in China — still no word yet on whether the game will ever be released in other regions — we’re starting to see more details about the game emerge, and the latest is the video below. In it, a player gets repeatedly pummeled by a ferocious looking new (sort of) boss: a giant hermit crab. I say sort of new because this creature has appeared in previous Monster Hunter games, but this is the first time we’ve really seen him in action in Monster Hunter Online.
Unfortunately, the video is too low-def to really show off the beauty of the game, which runs on CryEngine 3, so if you want to see how the game looks in high-def, check out the trailer we posted last week. If you want to see a crab getting revenge for decades of his compatriots getting eaten in crab cakes, though, check out the video below. It looks like Monster Hunter Online is going to be tough!
