Alpha JWC, Gojek VC arm co-lead pre-series A round of Indonesian media app

Indonesia-based audio content startup Noice has raised a seven-figure US dollar amount of pre-series A funding in a round co-led by Alpha JWC Ventures and Gojek’s investment arm Go-Ventures.

Kinesys Group and Kenangan Fund – an angel investment fund that was initiated by Kopi Kenangan’s founders – also participated, according to a statement.

Launched in 2018, the app offers a radio-streaming feature, audiobooks, and a library of over 100 original audio shows. It has 800,000 registered listeners to date and recently achieved over 1 billion minutes of audio-streaming on its platform.

The company is backed by Mahaka Radio Integra, an Indonesian investment company that owns several prominent radio stations in the country. Adrian Syarkawie, the investment firm’s chief executive, was previously Noice’s CEO. Last month, Noice appointed former Google executives Rado Ardian and Niken Sasmaya as its new chief executive and chief business officer, respectively, with Syarkawie assuming a supporting role.

Noice said it will use the fresh funds to produce more original shows and hire additional talent. It also plans to introduce Noice Live, a feature that will allow real-time community interactions, and will add more features on its app to help users better create, distribute, and monetize audio content.
