Is Hong Kong China’s Number One Tech Hub? (INFOGRAPHIC)

It’s undeniable that China is one of the most promising tech hubs in Asia. Considering that there are mega tech giants like Alibaba, Tencent, Sina, and others all vying over one of the biggest markets in the world. And if you know China well, you know that most of the activity is centered in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and etc.. But the larger cities are increasingly becoming less livable and it’s high time startups looked elsewhere for healthy environments to grow.

Hong Kong wants to be on the top of the list. Ever since its transfer of power back to mainland China in 1997, despite a few early demonstrations, China has maintained Hong Kong’s Special Administrative Region status. This has allowed a healthy business environment to continue to grow and some are making the case that it’s one of the most healthy places for startups to go.

We got a provocative infographic from our friends over at Hotel Club which underlines these points. Hong Kong beats most of the major Chinese cities on several major points: higher internet penetration, non-censored internet, Google is free there, ease of business registration, state financial support, mobile growth, and more. Check out the infographic for more details:
