Unified Inbox acquires SocialGrow to make social networking even more seamless

Toby Ruckert, CEO of communication-as-a-service platform Unified Inbox, has been really busy this year – and not just building up their platform. In February this year, they acquired iOS app HelloInbox, followed quickly by US-based cloud solution Smak three months later. Today, they’ve added another to the collection with their acquisition of Boston-based social networking application company SocialGrow for an undisclosed amount.
SocialGrow, which is similar to Rapportive, makes it easier for organizations and individuals to connect with the people they know on different social networks. Ruckert believes that its integration with Unified Inbox’s current product offerings will help the service become even more comprehensive and seamless.
“With SocialGrow, Unified Inbox acts like an assistant for its users by intelligently suggesting to them to add those people to their social media networks with whom they exchange emails anyway, thus quickly growing the users reach across different communication channels,” he explains. The best part: all this takes place in the background, with no need for users to manually track down and connect with everyone.
SocialGrow’s co-founder and chief marketing officer Ken Herron will join Unified Inbox as the newly minted head of marketing. According to Ruckert, he will be essential in driving their global marketing efforts forward as the company gets ready for its first commercial launches, and eventually global availability in 2015.
