Why we’re giving away 300 Tech in Asia Singapore 2016 passes to women in tech

female-entre-post

It’s a well-known fact that women are underrepresented in the tech scene. They occupy less than 20 percent of leadership roles in tech companies worldwide, and just 11.5 percent in Asia.

In spite of these statistics and the shades of sexism prevalent in the tech industry, we have reason to celebrate. In the past year alone, we’ve seen an increasing number of women making a dent in the tech space not just as supporters – but as drivers of innovation in technopreneurship.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise. Women-led tech companies achieve 35 percent higher return on investments, and 12 percent more revenue than venture funded tech companies run by men. In fact, businesses with five or more female executives on board are statistically proven to be more likely to succeed.

In Asia, we have no shortage of our own inspiring female entrepreneurs. Southeast Asia is home to many women who have gone against the tide to propel their startups to success. India boasts more than its share of game-changers across a diverse range of verticals. And the next generation of female visionaries are emerging from Indonesia’s tech world.

One thing is for sure: these entrepreneurs are paving the way for more women in tech to lead. Beyond celebrating these achievements, Tech in Asia wants to support more women entrepreneurs who are building their own legacies. That’s why we’re setting aside 300 passes for women in tech; if you built or work for a startup we would love to meet you!

We warmly invite you to apply for a free women entrepreneur pass to Tech in Asia Singapore 2016, happening on April 12 and 13. If you know someone who would fit the bill, do help us spread the word!
