The appointment came eight months after Nguyen Thai Hai Van, the firm’s previous country head for Vietnam, resigned from her post to join Apple.

Osorio previously led Grab Thailand for nearly three years. In a press statement, Russell Cohen, group managing director for operations of Grab, said Osorio has “a strong track record in driving Grab Thailand to emerge even stronger post-Covid-19 pandemic” and experience in building “high-performing” local teams.

Having entered the country in 2014, Grab considers Vietnam one of its most important markets. Anthony Tan, its co-founder and CEO, visited the country in July to engage with government leaders.

Last month, Grab reported a group revenue of US$382 million for the third quarter of 2022, up 143% year on year, while adjusted EBITDA loss saw a 24% improvement from last year.
