Indian plant-based nutrition firm Oziva banks $12m from Eight Roads-led round

Indian plant-based nutrition brand Oziva said it raised US$12 million in a series B round led by new investor Eight Roads Ventures.

The round also included participation from F-Prime Capital and existing investor Matrix Partners India, according to a statement.

Founded in 2016, Oziva offers a portfolio of products across categories such as women’s and men’s health, as well as skin, hair, and general wellness products. It claims to have been the first to develop and commercialize plant-based formulations in these categories.

In February 2021, Oziva became India’s first certified clean nutrition brand by the US-based Clean Label Project.

“We will continue to focus on growing our portfolio of clean, plant-based products, expanding into newer categories while also further investing in our technology and R&D efforts,” said Oziva’s co-founder, Aarti Gill.

It also plans to further build its team and provide more value-added services.

In addition to products, the startup also offers personalized diet and fitness consultations, nutritional and fitness content, and community-based events through its platform.

“We have closely tracked the large yet under-penetrated consumer health category, looking for companies with the focus and capabilities to disrupt the sector,” said Eight Roads Ventures’ India principal Ashish Venkataramani.
