Indian AI-based fitness gamification startup raises $873k in seed funding

Insane AI, an India-based artificial intelligence-driven fitness startup, has raised US$873,000 in a seed funding round led by Indian early-stage venture capital fund Pi Ventures.

The round also saw a participation from LetsVenture¸ Epic Games executive Sameer Pitalwalla, SportzVillage founder Saumil Majumdar, GhostKitchens CEO Karan Tanna, and People Group founder and CEO Anupam Mittal, among others.

Launched in 2021, Insane AI focuses on the gamification of fitness. It uses technology such as computer vision, augmented reality, and AI to create workout games that can be played on smartphones and laptops. One of the games lets users compete with other players, similar to match-making games on popular mobile apps.

“Using artificial intelligence and big data, Insane AI understands the impact of every exercise and functional movement on the user’s body and personalizes the workouts to help users optimize their fitness journey,” the company said in a statement.

Insane AI co-founder Anurag Mundhada told Tech in Asia that the company plans to use the new capital primarily to develop the product and make the technology stronger.

“We want to become the Roblox of fitness where different content creators, fitness trainers, and game developers can offer their services on top of our platform,” Mundhada added.

He also said that the company is planning to launch the product outside India by the end of this year. Insane AI will initially launch in the US, Australia, and New Zealand.
