Indian adventure tours site Thrillophilia gets seed funding

Last month we looked at Thrillophilia, a marketplace for operators of adventure tours in India. Now the startup has a new round of seed funding to boost development, with over $200,000 coming from the Hyderabad Angels group.
Pradeep Mittal, the lead investor in this Thrillophilia deal, says the ‘activity travel’ segment is the third largest niche in the travel industry after hotel and air travel.
Thrillophilia offers things like an eco voyage around Kerala, sea kayaking expeditions in Goa, and snorkelling with elephants. Co-founder Abhishek Daga says the aim is for the site to have 6,000 adventure experiences listed by December.
The Bangalore-based startup now has ties to 450 regional tour operators in 72 cities across India. So far, it has helped over 50,000 travellers get an adrenaline kick out of their holiday. Thrillophilia caters to both global explorers and Indian domestic tourists, and is currently seeing 24 percent of business from returning customers.
