Grab to create 350 new jobs in Singapore this year

The super app will rope in employees from fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, and product management and design. The new hires will be involved in projects to improve merchants’ abilities to offer tailored products to their customers.

These employees will also be handling Grab’s innovation engine and will build integrations with local partners.

Besides tech roles, the company will also offer employment opportunities in finance, operations, legal, public affairs, and business development.

“Despite the challenges brought forth by Covid-19, the tech industry continues to hold promise for new and renewed opportunities for talent,” said Grab co-founder Tan Hooi-Ling. “We are building products that positively impact millions across Southeast Asia, and we want to continue deepening our research and development (R&D) capabilities and push the boundaries of innovation, right here at our strategic base.”

The company has also signed a memorandum of intent with the Infocomm Media Development Authority and Digital Industry Singapore to develop the country’s tech talent and R&D capabilities.

The deal will see Grab working with the two entities through talent development programs such as the TechSkills Accelerator to develop the company’s core product and engineering capabilities. The accelerator will provide hands-on training to individuals keen on exploring roles in the tech sector.
