When people think about recent startup success cases in Singapore, PropertyGuru usually comes to mind. Founded in May 2007, PropertyGuru has come a long way. It recently raised more than S$60 million (US$49.1 million) from European property portal group ImmobilienScout24, and the site now has more than 24,000 property agents across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia using its site.
The PropertyGuru story is pretty inspiring and you can actually read it here. Even better, you can listen to the story straight from Steve Melhuish’s himself (he’s the co-founder and CEO of PropertyGuru) when he’s speaking at Startup Asia Singapore 2013 this April 5 from 10.00 to 10.30am.
Besides the PropertyGuru origin story, I will also be digging into how he managed to build up the company from scratch, fend off competitors, expand across Southeast Asia, and of course, PropertyGuru’s exit plan – which is likely to center around heading for an IPO within the next 18 months.
