Black Desert, a fantasy-themed Korean MMO that made my list of five exciting-looking upcoming Korean games last month, is officially worth getting excited about. When I wrote about the game in-depth recently, we knew it was coming to China and Japan, but beyond that we didn’t know much. Now, there’s more: the devs have confirmed they’re working on an English-language version of the game.
On its official Facebook page, developer PearlAbyss posted screenshots of the English client of the game, confirming that it is in development but noting that it may not be available in the next version of the game’s closed beta, which is coming sometime early next year. Will English-language gamers be able to play it later in the year? There’s no way to know, but this news confirms we’ll be able to play it someday, and that’s great to hear.
The second round of the closed beta will contain something new even if the English interface isn’t included, though: an entirely new in-game region called Calpheon. And it looks pretty, like everything else in Black Desert:
