Letter to readers: Southeast Asia’s ecommerce infrastructure continues to mature
Dear readers,
Last week, we examined the deepening investments in Southeast Asia’s ecommerce scene.
We surveyed the key e-wallets in the Philippines – it looks like GCash, backed by bigwigs Ant Financial and Ayala, is inching ahead. (We also looked at Indonesia’s e-wallets in the past, in case you’re interested.)
We examined the profitable Indonesian logistics startup Ritase, which just bagged $8.5m, last week as well.

Given the multitude of delivery services in Indonesia, it’s no surprise that many startups similar to Ritase are eager to serve as one-stop shops for logistics.
Speaking of logistics, you can revisit our recent piece on one of the leading ecommerce delivery services in Southeast Asia: Ninja Van CEO talks profitability, deals with Grab, and pitfalls of the gig economy.
And here’s a rundown of the rest of our premium content from the past week:
- The company that’s helping billion-dollar funds unlock lucrative investments
- Meet the 15 top-funded startups and tech companies in Vietnam
- Rising startups on Tech In Asia: self-driving cars, grab-and-go coffee, and more
