In Conversation with Wesley Oxenham, Co-founder and COO of PeekSpy

PeekSpy - Home Banner

Local startup PeekSpy decided to tackle the global market first for their product, FanVenues, rather than start local. We sat down with one of their co-founders and COO, Wesley Oxenham, the younger of the two Mauritian brothers in the team, to have a chat to find out more about PeekSpy and FanVenues.

Tell us your story, what were you doing before starting PeekSpy? [SGE’s review]

Before starting Peekspy, I was in university doing a concurrent degree program – B.A (Arch) Honours / Masters in Architecture – at NUS. In this program, students are encouraged to take a year of leave to gain practical experience before engaging in their last year. Instead of working for a firm, I decided to take that opportunity to open my own start-up.

How did you form your team?

I formed my team with people I knew and trusted very well, who also shared a similar vision. My brother, Oliver was the first to join me. He was in fact already helping me, before we started Peekspy, to develop new ideas and applications from home. A good friend of ours Paymon Rasekhy also joined both of us to incorporate Peekspy.

What motivated you to set up PeekSpy?

My passion for business was the first reason why I started Peekspy. Although I studied architecture, I always wanted to create my own start-up. What I eventually did, is to combine both my experience in architecture and my passion for business.

We know that your first product, FanVenues recently launched. Tell us more about what it is and why people should take notice of it.

Our first product was in fact created for NUS Libraries. The product is a 3-dimensional replica of the interior of the library and allows students to browse various facilities of the library or locate books.
Fanvenues is our most recent product and we are very excited about it.

Before developing fanvenues we researched, first, on what were the problems online ticket buyers were facing and second how these problems could be resolved by developing an application that would help online ticket vendors to improve their customers’ user experience. We eventually decided to develop 3D seat views based on the various sections a venue has, something that was done in 2D until now.
