China Creation Ventures closes new fund at $300m

“Early-stage venture capital firm China Creation Ventures (CCV) has reached the final closing of its second US dollar-denominated fund for an aggregate of US$300 million,” DealStreetAsia reported.

Limited partners for the new fund include existing investors, endowment funds, pension funds, and funds of funds (FoF) based in North America, Europe, and Asia.

CCV was founded in 2017 by former KPCB China managing partner Wei Zhou together with his investment team. Focusing on the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) industry, it manages roughly 5 billion yuan (US$745 million) in assets.

The company has invested in a number of startups in China, including JD.com, JD Finance, CreditEase, Ximalaya, Venustech, and Ice Kredit. With its latest fund, CCV will continue to look for early-stage opportunities in AI, healthcare, industrial internet, and new consumption, among others.

The new fund marks CCV’s third since its launch, following its debut US$200 million fund launched in 2018. The company said it also plans to close a yuan fund soon.
