The Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster has finally been dated for release on March 18, 2014 in North America. While that’s definitely not an Asian release date, chances are many of your local game stores will get it shortly after, since what we Asians don’t get, we import. We’re in touch with a couple of stores just to confirm this, and will update when they respond.
Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will feature both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 on the same PS3 disc. Released on July 19, 2001, Final Fantasy X was the first Final Fantasy for the PlayStation 2 platform as well as the first to feature voice acting. Along with its newly high-def spin-off Final Fantasy X-2, I’m convinced that Final Fantasy X is just the first of many HD remasters to come. (Final Fantasy XII, please?)
The North American pre-order will net you a free upgrade to the limited edition version of the HD remaster, which includes special concept artbook packaging, a collection of concept art and commentary from the original development teams of both games. While this is only available on the North American Square Enix store, have faith in your local game stores. They might just be able to grab some of the sets. Again, we will update on possible local availability when we know more.
Also, since the official PlayStation 4 release in Asia has yet to come, don’t go expecting any price drops for PlayStation 3 games just yet.
Update 19-11-2013: We’ve checked around and yes, most local game stores are doing pre-orders for both the limited and standard editions of the game.
