Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy returns to Kuala Lumpur after two years

The Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert has once again made its way to Kuala Lumpur (KL) city in Malaysia.

Performed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dithyrambic Singapores and conducted by Arnie Roth, it will be performed at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas concert hall over August 15 to 17, 2014. The first two days will see evening shows, while August 17, Sunday, will be a matinee.

This Distant Worlds concert is a twentieth anniversary salute to the music of Final Fantasy VI, and will include the tracks “Dancing Mad” and “Opera Maria & Draco”.

Some other songs you will hear there are Final Fantasy X’s “Hymn of the Fayth”, Final Fantasy VIII’s “Liberi Fatali”, and Final Fantasy VII’s “One Winged Angel”, as well as a new battle and victory theme medly consisting of “Those Who Fight”, “Fight with Seymour”, and “Clash at the Big Bridge.”

The concert will also include a high-definition video presentation of exclusive Square Enix game content.

Ticket prices for this upcoming Distant Worlds concert range from RM120 ($37) to RM380 ($118). Unfortunately for those who experienced the first Distant Worlds concert in Kuala Lumpur back in 2012, the ticket prices have gone up, and you can expect to pay RM40 ($6.20) to RM80 ($12.40) more for better seats.

Also just as unfortunately, the booking system for Distant Worlds in KL is exceedingly old fashioned. While buyers are told they can purchase single tickets (and only single tickets online), a quick try left us unable to pay for the ticket when we registered our address as one outside of Malaysia. Email booking is currently impossible as the people manning the email address have failed to clear their inbox.

Your best bet for a booking is probably to call up a friend based in Kuala Lumpur and coerce him or her into helping you!
