Asiasoft and S2 Games to work with YY Inc. for Strife in Southeast Asia
It’s official – Strife might be published by Asiasoft here in Southeast Asia, but it will be on Chinese company YY Inc.’s social platform. Today the companies announced their strategic partnership to “to create a seamless and interactive playing experience for users in Southeast Asia.”
It’s a double landmark move for YY Inc. Strife is the company’s first client MMO, and their partnership with Asiasoft marks their expansion out of China and into new territory.
“We believe such partnerships will further enable YY to leverage its unique and powerful communications technologies and expand its user base and brand […]” said David Xueling Li, Chief Executive Officer of YY Inc.
Asiasoft, on the other hand, is just as thrilled with their part of the deal. This is the first time Asiasoft will be using an external social platform for their games. Asiasoft games are currently tied to the Asiasoft Passport, a “unified gamer account” that lets players access all their Asiasoft games in one location. It will be interesting to see how the YY social platform will tie in with the existing Passport, or if it will at all.
“[…] we are looking forward to the potentials of enriching the gaming experiences for our users, as well as further growing our market in Southeast Asia,” said Pramoth Sudjitporn, Chief Executive Officer of Asiasoft.
Asiasoft will be responsible for localized operations support for Strife in marketing, customer service and payment solutions in the countries it covers.
The announcement comes ahead of the end of S2 Games’ Strife Southeast Asian Road Tour. The final Strife demos – the last of the first available outside of PAX East – will be played at the PlayPark FanFest and the Pinoy Gaming Festival this weekend.
Beyond that, Strife, touted to be the second generation of MOBA games, is slated to enter beta in Q4 of this year, with a full release coming in 2014.
