Indonesian ecommerce unicorn Bukalapak has launched a tax payment feature that lets Indonesians pay for expenses like income tax, value-added tax, and luxury sales tax through the Bukalapak platform.
The product, developed in partnership with Indonesia’s Ministry of Finance, is part of the company’s initiatives in e-government services.

“Paying taxes is no longer a hassle for Indonesians. With a simple login and several clicks, paying multiple taxes can be done from anywhere, anytime,” said Achmad Zaky, co-founder and CEO of Bukalapak.
This is not the firm’s first e-government product. Previously, the company partnered with several provincial and municipal governments across Indonesia to support vehicle and regional property taxes.
The company recently announced a 3x increase in gross profits for 2019. Along with more than 4 million merchants on its platform, the company also claims to have more than 2 million small-business partners in its Mitra Bukalapak program.
Most recently, the firm unveiled a new feature called BukaGlobal, which lets consumers outside of Indonesia shop on the Bukalapak platform.
