A dating app that matches you with one person a day at noon, Noonswoon has been in the spotlight a lot lately. First, it won this year’s AIS startup prize and then it raised $400,000 in funding from various investors including 500 Startups.
Noonswoon is once again the object of affection from Thai telco AIS. Having previously emerged from the AIS incubator program, now the dating app is the first startup partner designated as an AIS ‘Incubated Content Partner’ (ICP). This means Noonswoon will be groomed and supported by the telco.
Mickey Asavanant, Noonswoon’s co-founder, explained to Tech in Asia what this partnership entails:
AIS normally works with big companies such as movie makers, ringtone makers, or music makers to be their CPs (content partners). But we’re the first startup that the telco is interested in. So they started ICP.
The new partnership allows us to work together on campaigning, sharing infrastructure, SMS services, a payment gateway, and many more things to come. Noonswoon also offers a discount for AIS customers. For example, AIS customers who register on Noonswoon get more virtual candy to use a social currency on the platform.
AIS’ Pratthana Leelapanang added that the telco “intends to create business opportunities” for Noonswoon that will lead to “sustainable and mutual growth.”
Thai users of the app can expect to see the results of this partnership rolling out later this month.
