Asian Cyber Games announces Call for the Beauties, a Dota 2 girls-only tournament

One of the biggest events in SEA has set its eyes on the female Dota 2 community with the announcement of the first season of Asian Cyber Games (ACG) Call for the Beauties.

The all-female tournament is open only to Dota 2 teams in the SEA region, and already have two female teams from Thailand on board: Reality.Galz (RLT) and Vegetable Fish Fizz (VFF).

An all-female Dota 2 tournament is nothing new, but it is quite exciting to see bigger organizations such as ACG hold such events. While it is true that gender does not determine one’s skill in any way, and female teams should be able to compete with male players in tournaments, playing Dota 2 as a female is not all smooth sailing.

Some female players find it difficult to be recognized because of a lack of other female gamers, which makes it difficult to form teams unrestricted by timezones and language differences. Events such as ACG’s Call for the Beauties will not only serve as a stage to showcase female talent, it will also help female teams to connect with each other.
