
New industry-led organization, Mobile Alliance had their very first Meet-The-Members session today. Aimed at introducing the committee, some of its members and share some plans, the session brought together current and potential members.

Out of the speaker line-up, the Industry Manager for the wireless market, Marc Daniel Einstein, from Frost & Sullivan also gave a presentation on the mobile market. Some key points highlighted:

Members’ Presentations
Members of the Mobile Alliance include developers, operators, content providers and companies with a range of value-added services for the mobile platform.
Some companies gave short 3-min presentations. They were: Gemalto, Ad Grow, Mobile Distillery, Infoline, Mobile Sorcery and MicroUsability.
Membership
In addition to Ordinary Membership, Mobile Alliance offers Associate Membership for enterprises looking to implement or develop mobile capabilities as well as Individual Membership targeted at students and freelance developers, offering them the opportunity to learn more about the Mobile Industry and various training, internship and job opportunities with members.
Achievements-to-Date
In the 1 and half months since Mobile Alliance was launched, it has:
1. Conducted a Roundtable discussions with EDB, SPRING, IDA, MDA and IE Singapore to discuss collaboration with the respective government agencies. Members can look forward to a slew of new and exciting private-public sector initiatives in the next 6 – 12 months.
2. Signed MOUs with Mobile Marketing Association, Mobile Entertainment Forum, Games Exchange Alliance and Swedish Mobile Association, expressing intention to work together on joint activities.
3. In the midst of working with IE Singapore to plan a Telecoms Mission to Brazil in October
4. In the midst of sourcing for Global Honorary Representatives for the Mobile Alliance.
5. In the midst of talking to the Institutes of Higher Learning to share about their plans and kick-start a Student Mobile Evangelist Program.
6. Exploring to set-up an online app-store promoting Singapore only mobile software and content.

The Mobile Alliance is Singapore’s first Industry Association formed specifically to look at the interests of Mobile software and content developers with the objective of accelerating the growth of the Mobile eco-system and positioning Singapore as a Centre of Excellence for Mobile Services in Asia and beyond.
