asia startups weekly feature

Another week has passed in Tech in Asia and below is the list of startups which we have covered. For tips and stories suggestions, feel free to email us at Editors[at]techinasia[dot].com. Enjoy!

1. MM Cab | Indonesia

So Jakarta, Indonesia now has a Uber-like startup called MM Cab, which has certainly raised a lot of eyebrows and buzz on Twitter because it uses only supercars!

2. ClickTRUE | Singapore

ClickTRUE raised an undisclosed sum from Indonesian venture capital group, Nusantara Ventures. Those funds will provide ClickTRUE not just financial support but also connections to enter the Indonesian market.

3. SnapPea | China

China-based startup Wandoujia is going global under the English name SnapPea.

4. Yebhi | India

E-commerce has huge room for growth in India. But it requires immense capital to sustain that growth too. This week, we saw Yebhi raise $18 million in its series C round.

5. Xiaomi | China

We usually wouldn’t put Xiaomi under the startup category. It’s too big to be called one. But the China-based smartphone company is still very young, and pretty much maintains a very startup-ish culture. This week, we saw Xiaomi launching MiDrive, a cloud storage service, and also heard rumors that it might be introducing its phones in Taiwan. CEO Lei Jun was also in the headlines with a not-so-pleasant interview with the Economic Observer. Turned out to be not a big deal, though.

6. Fetch Plus | Singapore

Earlier this week, we saw Fetch Plus announce a $567,000 round led by investors Lawrence Seah and Yeo Choon Leong.
